If these billionaires had their way, they wouldn't pay their workers at all, they'd just give them script to use at the company store. Not quite enough to live on, of course; the workers would have to run a tab they'd be charged interest on.

The utopian standard of living enjoyed by the $2/day African mine worker is truly the envy of the world. We could all learn by their go-get-em, can-do example.

P.S.: Congo Free State. The Free Market's Invisible Hand(s)

Poster Child for why there are Communists.

Sheesh! I’m a capitalist, though it would take thousands of my sort to make one Gina. If I’m ever dragged out of my car and speared with a pitchfork by starving peasants, I’ll know whom to blame. Don’t we have some left-over commies we can dust off and sic on this woman?

I'd like to introduce her to Madame DuFarge.

If being wealthy turns you into that kind of monster,I'll happily stay middle class. Of course if this disgusting piece of work has her way there would be no middle class.

No, what I would really like to do is make these people live for a year on the wages they think regular workers should receive, with no access to any of their billions or their mansions when things get uncomfortable.

[...]Rinehart said at the Sydney Mining Club. “Africans want to work, and its workers are willing to work for less than $2 per day. Such statistics make me worry for this country’s future.”

I wonder if Rinehart is talking about these African miners:

I think there's a bit of a difference between the cost of living in Africa compared to COL in Australia. $2 to an African may sound like a lot of money. An Aussie would flip you off, or worse.

Rinehart sounds like Romney. No fucking clue about life in the real world of the working stiff.

That said, if you planted this woman in any Walmart in America, she'd blend right in. Just sayin'.

If she actually thinks that she can bring Africans to Australia and pay them $2 a day, she is even more clueless than Marie Antoinette.

Apparently she is auditioning for the lead role of "first person to stand in front of the bullet riddled wall" when the next revolution happens.
